 This upscale wine shop on Russian Hill may be small, but the
selection is first-rate and the staff extremely knowledgeable. Pick a varietal and a price
range and they will most likely point you to a wine you've never heard of before. Mention
a summer barbecue and they may hand you a crisp rose of cabernet franc, dispelling any
notion you had that rose wines had to be sweet. They also box and ship wine to most states. This kind of service has
won them a faithful following. A tasting bar is located in the back of the store, within a
tiny art gallery. The bar is open during after 3pm to closing, and the staff are always
available to answer questions or provide information about the wines. Wren and Culpeper's also hosts regular wine events, usually the last Thursday of every
