Decatur County
History
In the Upper
Coastal Plains Region of Georgia,
Decatur County was formed in
1823 from Early County. Its county seat,
Bainbridge, is on
US-27 about 230 miles south of Atlanta and 40 miles NNW of Tallahassee, FL. Decatur is bordered by the Georgia counties of
Seminole, Miller,
Baker, Mitchell and
Grady, and the Florida county of
Gadsden.
