Morgan County
History
In the Piedmont Region of Georgia,
Morgan County was formed in
1807 from Baldwin County which was originally Randolph
County. Its county seat,
Madison, is on
I-20 about 50 miles east of Atlanta and 55 miles NNE of Macon. Morgan is bordered by the counties of
Walton, Oconee, Greene,
Putnam, Jasper and
Newton.
