Franklin County
County History and Geography
In the Piedmont Region and north-central part of North Carolina, Franklin County was formed in
1779
from old Bute County. Louisburg, its county seat, is on US-401, about 30 miles
northeast of
Raleigh. Franklin is bordered by the counties of Vance,
Warren,
Nash, Wake and
Granville.
