Bamberg County
History
In the middle South
Carolina part of the Coastal Plains region, Bamberg County was formed in
1897 from Barnwell County. Its county seat, the town of Bamberg, is on
US-78, about 60 miles east of Augusta, GA and 55 miles south of
Columbia. Bamberg County is bordered by the counties of
Orangeburg, Colleton,
Allendale and Barnwell.
