Coleman County
County History and Geography
In the Rolling Plains Region of central Texas, Coleman County was formed in 1858 from Brown and
Travis
Counties. Its county seat, Coleman,
is about 50 miles SSE of Abilene and 150 miles southwest of Fort Worth. Coleman is
bordered by the counties of Taylor,
Callahan, Brown, McCulloch, Concho and Runnels.

Census Records
No Caucasian Culpeppers were found in any any Coleman County censuses
up to 1930. All of the names for this period were African-American, and no
Culpeppers at all were found prior to 1900.
