County History and Geography
In the Oakwoods and Prairies Region of central Texas,
Comanche
County was formed in 1856 from Coryell and
Bosque
Counties. Its county seat, Comanche,
is about 75 miles SE of Abilene and 100 miles SW of Fort Worth. Comanche County is
bordered by the counties of Eastland,
Erath, Hamilton, Mills and
Brown.
