Harrison County
County History and Geography
In the Piney Woods Region of northeast Texas, Harrison
County was formed in 1839 from Shelby
County. Its county seat, Marshall,
is on I-20, about 150 miles east of Dallas. Harrison is bordered by the Texas counties
of Panola, Rusk,
Gregg, Upshur and
Marion, and the Louisiana Parish of
Caddo.
