County History and Geography

In the Rolling Plains Region of north Texas, Haskell County was formed in 1858 (organized 1885) from Fannin and Milam Counties. Its county seat, Haskell, is on US-277, about 45 miles north of Abilene and 175 miles west of Dallas. Haskell County is bordered by the counties of Throckmorton, Jones, Stonewall and Knox.
