The Culpeppers first settled in America in the extreme southeastern portion of Virginia, and many remain there to this day. Now known as "the Southside" and officially called South Hampton Roads, this area includes the counties and independent cities of Norfolk, Chesapeake, Isle of Wight, Nansemond, Portsmouth, Princess Anne, Suffolk, Surry and Virginia Beach.

900 Ferryman Quay, Chesapeake, Va.

Ten graves with grave slabs over them.  No other identifiable evidence on top of the ground. Four graves were bricked in vaults about six inches above ground with a cement slab over them. Two of the slabs were replaced with marble slabs by the homeowner. No identifying marks. Only one Culpepper grave.
