BETTY JOY CULPEPPER HELMCAMP, 80, of Conroe and formerly of Canyon Lake, Lake Mt. Pleasant and Houston, passed away November 4, 2006 at her home in Conroe, surrounded by her family. She was born August 2, 1926 in Houston to John Thomas and Margurite Culpepper, and was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Margie Parrish. Mrs. Helmcamp is survived by her loving husband of almost 62 years, Dewey E. Helmcamp Jr. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, the greatest love she had was her love for her family. Left to honor her memory are also her son, Col. Dewey E. (Trey) Helmcamp III, USA (Ret) and wife Mary of Round Rock; daughters, Cynthia House and husband Larry of Conroe and Carrie Heasley and husband Jerry of Porter; grandchildren, John Helmcamp and wife Jacquie, Dr. Jeff Helmcamp and wife Dr. Jennifer Helmcamp, Scott Helmcamp, Courtney House, Clint House, Spenser Heasley and Morgan Heasley; great grandchildren, Madeline Helmcamp and Hunter Helmcamp. A private memorial service was held on Wednesday, November 8. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Army Emergency Relief Fund, www.aerhq.org or Habitat for Humanity.6
