Obituary*17 Feb 2011 E-mail from Capos Conley 'Chip' Culpepper, III to Warren Culpepper and Lew Griffin:
It is with great personal sadness that I relay the following obituary of my sister-in-law Janie. She and Jack, my brother, married back in 1979 when I was only 15 years old. She was an amazing "big sister" to me in every way. They were married on my parents wedding anniversary, and their wedding reception was held at our home in Garland County, Ark.
Janie always had an authentic sense of joy about her. Not your average, run-of-the-mill sort of "joy," mind you. Janie had - and had the ability to create in others - a type of full-on, no-holds-barred JOY. She was honest and candid, effortlessly quick-witted, intuitive and intelligent, and always well informed. Janie was also one of the hardest working people I've ever known in my life (and I've been around some real go-getters).
She also made my father laugh the way very few people could.
Her battle with cancer began only a couple of years ago. It had already spread before it was even discovered. But, even so, she still energetically planned and flawlessly pulled off her daughter Autumn's beautiful wedding in the very depths of dealing with her own illness. The breathtaking towering glass-and-wood Anthony Chapel at Garvan Woodland Gardens (a forest botanical garden where Jack works) has never been more beautiful that it was that glorious day. It was filled with light - and love - and Janie's own unique brand of JOY.
