On the Gulf Coast in the westernmost part of the Panhandle Region of Florida (aka the Redneck Riviera), Bay County was formed in 1913 from Calhoun and Washington counties. Its county seat, Panama City, is on US-98 about 80 miles southwest of Tallahassee and 90 miles east of Pensacola. Bay is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and the counties of Walton, Washington, Calhoun and Gulf.
