In the Piney Woods
Region of northeast Texas, Gregg
County was formed in 1873 from Upshur and
Rusk
Counties. Its county seat, Longview,
is on I-20, about 120 miles east of Dallas and 40 miles west of Arkansas. Gregg is
bordered by the counties of Upshur,
Harrison,
Rusk and Smith.
